Health and Physical Education

It is so nice to be able to start the new school year with very few restrictions. It is especially great for our Physical Education classes as we’re able to get some of our exciting activities underway.

Our Year 8 Physical Education classes will begin their Lifesaving program at the end of this week. They will have the opportunity to head down to Mentone Beach during their allocated Physical Education lessons and learn some of the many skills associated with lifesaving and beach water safety. We’re very lucky to have the beach so close to us and have the opportunity to do such a program as part of our Physical Education course. Let’s hope we have some great weather coming up!

Our Year 9 Outdoor Education and Fit For Life elective classes are preparing for some fun adventures over this term. Our Fit For Life class will be doing a session of trampolining as well as an excursion to the Aqua Water Park. They will also be heading off to the gym for a few fitness classes. Our Outdoor Education class will have a go at Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and also undertake a unit on Bike Riding which will lead up to a great excursion of a day out bike riding.

The Year 10 Physical Education classes will make the most of the warm weather. Being so close to the beach, we will hold a few of their classes down at Mentone and Mordialloc Beaches doing Beach Volleyball and other fun beach activities. We hope this encourages our students to develop a lifelong love of physical activity and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

We have already seen a few hot days this term so far, so we ask that students wear their school cap for Physical Education classes and apply sunscreen, which can be located just outside the Physical Education office. We obviously want everyone to be as SunSmart as possible. It is also recommended to bring a drink bottle along to Physical Education classes.
