ICT Update

ICT Update:

Welcome:

The start of the year is always a busy time for the ICT team as we roll out our school ICT programs to the students. 

Late last year we welcomed a new ICT Team Manager, Gethin Jenkins. Gethin has worked in schools during his time living in the UK and recently joins us from working a number of years in a corporate environment. We are looking forward to his leadership and the strategies he will put in place.

We bid farewell and congratulate Abe Basheer on taking a new position as ICT Manager at Manor Lakes collage.

Just this week we welcomed Jordon Veith as our new ICT Coordinator. Jordon brings a wealth of experience and knowledge after working in various ICT positions within in a number of schools. 

iPad 1:1 program

The ICT Team have completed configuring and deploying 500+ iPads to year 7, 8 and 9 students with great success. A lot of hard work was undertaken by our ICT team during the school holidays and we thank them for their contribution and efforts. 

The iPad deployment is always an exciting time at the college and it is good to see the enjoyment of our students receiving their device.

BYOD:

In the first few days of term we have successfully connected a number of devices for our students.

For our Year 10, 11 and 12 students, Melton secondary collage currently offers a bring your own device program. If you would like your device connected to access the internet within the school, please bring your device to the ICT team.  We aim to connect the device within 1-2 days and will advise students when they can collect their unit. 

Mac Lab update:

In the coming weeks the ICT team will be receiving a delivery of new iMac devices to refresh the Mac lab. This is an exciting project and we are looking forward to seeing what our students can accomplish with this new hardware.
