Principal's Report - Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers,

WELCOME

Welcome back to the new school year. I’d like to especially welcome the new families that have enrolled at Fairvale PS across the school. I hope your time at our school is very rewarding. We also welcome fifty-three Kindergarten students so far this year!

BEING COVID-SMART

Thank you to our community for ensuring that we are all COVID-SMART as the children return to school. It was pleasing to see many families collecting the Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) over the last week or so. This is one layer of protection to keep everyone safe. Continue to come to the school to collect RATs for the children; remember children need two RATs per week. Other communication regarding being COVID-SMART can be accessed from many places such as the School App, School Website, Facebook and Seesaw. We use Twitter to showcase the wonderful work we do at Fairvale PS. Most of the communication we send home is also translated, so please take the time to read it. I have included some links in this edition of the newsletter.

FAREWELL MR TRAN AND MISS WULF

At the very end of last year, two of our teachers, Mr Kim Tran and Miss Rebecca Wulf, gained permanent employment with the Department of Education and have consequently commenced duties at their new school. On behalf of the Fairvale learning community, I would like to thank them both for their fine contribution to Fairvale PS over many years and wish them well at their new school. Good luck!

BIKE VISITS WITH MR PITT

As I mentioned at the end of last year, it was time to sell the parachute and buy something new to get around the school to visit everyone. I am excited to announce that I now have a bike! I am looking forward to my bike visits in 2022. This is a great opportunity to spend some time in classrooms speaking to the children about their learning – it is my favourite part of the week! I will also include a few photos of my visit in each edition of the school newsletter. My visits commence next week.

SCHOOL LEADERS

I would like to take this opportunity to officially welcome our new school leaders for 2022.

MEET THE TEACHER AFTERNOON – TO BE CONFIRMED

Every year the staff look forward to meeting families at our annual ‘Meet the Teacher’ afternoon. I am unable to confirm what this will look like but I am hoping to provide further information with you all soon.

 2022 CLASSES

Thank you to everyone for your support over the last few days with students returning to 2021 classes. We have done this again this year because our student enrolment numbers change from year to year and this impacts on new classes. It has certainly worked in our favour this year, as some minor changes have been made to our 2022 classes. We are hopeful that we will be ready to commence in 2022 classes next Tuesday 8 February. On Monday afternoon, children will visit their new classroom, meet their new teacher and class friends. Parents/ carers will receive a note as well – this note will tell you about your child’s 2022 class.

COMMUNICATION

If you have concerns about any issue, and it is classed based, please contact your child’s teacher – a phone appointment is necessary due to the current COVID-SMART guidelines. We also have an executive team who guide the teaching and learning programs and wellbeing of all members of our school. At times you may find it necessary to organise to talk to one of the executive members of staff.

REMINDERS TO START THE YEAR

We are just about over the busiest time of the year so I thought it was important to remind families of a few important issues—updating of details, family court matters and allergies/ medications. You will find information regarding these issues on the last page of the newsletter.

STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK

All adults on site will be healthy and ready to work and we expect the same for our children and their families. If they are unwell at school, you or your nominated emergency contact will need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your contact details are up to date. Check out the link below.
