COLLEGE DUX: Emelia Rice was announced College Dux for 2021.
The College Cross and Dux Ceremony took place in the Chapel today with Emelia Rice announced as our 2021 Dux and presented with the Dux shield by Principal Clare Healy. Those students who were not present in the Chapel had it streamed to classrooms. Thank to everyone who participated in this special event.
The College theme for 2022 is "CREATE"
Under this theme we are inspired to construct, design, improvise, establish and invent in all aspects of our lives.
Year 12 Study Day
Year 12 has a special day today. It's the Year 12 Study Day. They are learning all about how to succeed in Year 12. Exam protocols, HSC rules and expectations, study habits, writing skills and good mental health are all on the agenda. The photo shows them sitting down to a formal exam together for the first time. Last year, the Year 11 Exams were held at home via Zoom. So, we practised lining up and coming into the exam centre at school. There wasn't much exam stress as it was just a fun 10-minute quiz. Thanks to Mrs Channon and all the presenters for helping our students get ready for Year 12.
Rapid Antigen Testing
Students and staff have been undertaking their twice weekly Rapid Tests and received their second instalment of the NSW Government funded testing kits on Thursday and Friday this week.
Australia Day Awards
Congratulations go out to Angus Scrivener and Education Assistant Anthony Kelly for being awarded their well deserved Australia Day Awards.
Angus was awarded Walcha Council's Young Citizen of the Year award at this morning's Australia Day Ceremony in Walcha. This is a huge achievement. Angus is involved in a variety of activities outside school and his most recent participation in the Rotary Public Speaking Competition has seen him progressing though to the semi-final. He has a prepared and impromptu speech to present on the 28th of February in Moree and for the prepared speech he is speaking on 'Fake News'. We extend our congratulations to Angus.
Anthony Kelly is one of our alumni of the College as well as an Education Assistant at O'Connor. He was presented with an Australia Day award this morning for your Contribution to Sports and Recreation. Anthony has spent many years imparting his knowledge of martial arts and self improvement to young people and has been a great ambassador for Armidale and O'Connor through his extraordinaire amount of Guinness World Records. Well done Mr Kelly!
