Principal's Report

Mrs Clare Healy

Dear members of the O’Connor community,

I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and a safe holiday. It was lovely to see our students come back to school last week. It has been a very different start to the year and I would like to thank all of our community for the way we have met the challenges of this year together.

It has been wonderful to meet the staff and students at the College this week and to have been given such a warm welcome into the O’Connor community. Year 7 and I began our time in O’Connor with ‘walking the drive’.  We hope in future years to be able to share this tradition with our whole community.

As the year progresses I look forward to sharing our student and staff successes and College life with you all. This year begins a new chapter in the rich history of O’Connor Catholic College. I look forward to honouring the many wonderful traditions of the College while being attentive to developing our future legacy.

A Prayer for the New Year

May God make your year a happy one!

Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,

But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;

Not by making your path easy,

But by making you sturdy to travel any path;

Not by taking hardships from you,

But by taking fear from your heart;

Not by granting you unbroken sunshine,

But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows;

Not by making your life always pleasant,

But by showing you when people and their causes need you the most,

And by making you anxious to be there to help.

God’s love, peace, hope, and joy to you for the year ahead!

— St. Thomas à Becket (1118 or 1120—1170)

God Bless,
