Principals' Update

Remote and Flexible Learning

Our students, staff and families are doing a fabulous job with remote learning this 5th time around. We were really inspired by the amazing School Songs that our students wrote for Performing Arts yesterday. They brought tears to our eyes as our students sang and wrote about what they love at CNPS. There were so many lines about how resilient they all are:

“Throw us a challenge, we’ll stand the test!” Casper 12T

“CNPS the place to go for good valu-es. Except we can’t go because of Corona Virus. Resilience, Respect Inclusion and Trust. If anything changes, we just adjust.” Phoenix 56O

We look forward to being able to share these amazing songs with the school community. We are very proud of all of the work that our students are doing at home and we can’t wait to see everyone back onsite soon.

We also made some adjustments to the Specialist Day yesterday and we hope that these changes met the needs of our families. The changes that we made this week were based on feedback that we received from our school community including:

  • more structure to the days,
  • whole school zoom sessions didn’t work so well for the younger students,
  • whole school learning tasks are a great opportunity for siblings to be able to work together and collaborate.

Trivia Night

Our Trivia Night was scheduled for tomorrow night, however, with the extension of the current lockdown we are looking at future possible dates for the event. As soon as the Fundraising and Community Engagement Team has secured a new date with the venue, Trivia Master and DJ, we will share this with the school community.

Parent Teacher Interviews Week 4

Parent Teacher Interviews Week 4 - Tuesday 3 August and Wednesday 4 August. We will be conducting our Parent Teacher Interviews on Zoom to ensure that they go ahead as planned. Bookings will be opened on Compass early next week.

Please note: If you participate in formalised Student Support Group Meetings (SSGs), these will be scheduled separately. All families participating in these meetings will be contacted directly. There is no need for you to book a Parent Teacher Interview as well.

2022 Foundation Enrolments

A reminder to all of our CNPS families that we have sent out the first round of enrolment letters of offer for Foundation in 2022. If you have not yet completed an expression of interest form for your child to commence Foundation next year, please do so as soon as possible.

Susan McLean Cyber Safety Session Term 3 - Tuesday 17 August

We are excited to share that we have booked Cyber Safety Expert - Susan McLean to conduct four sessions for students, staff and parents/carers on Tuesday 17 August.

Susan McLean is Australia’s foremost expert in the area of cyber safety and was a member of the Victoria Police for 27 years. Widely known as the ‘cyber cop’ she was the first Victoria Police Officer appointed to a position involving cyber safety and young people. Susan has conducted cyber safety sessions with CNPS students, staff and parents/carers for a number of years and each presentation is extremely informative and relevant to the online activities of our children at the time.

Susan will be conducting the following sessions:

  • Cyber Safety Session for Year 3/4
  • Cyber Safety Session for Year 5/6
  • Professional Learning Session for Staff
  • Cyber Safety Information Session for Parents and Carers (F-6)

We are fortunate that these sessions will be partly subsidised by funding through the School Focused Youth Services. We would like to thank Sally Ball - School Focused Youth Services Coordinator at Berry Street for assisting us with this funding.
