Messages from our Specialist team (P.E., STEAM, Music and Mandarin)...
STEAM
Last week the Preps learned about the life cycle of a turtle. They were given the opportunity to create their very own turtle if they had the materials at home to do so. The students who couldn't do that were encouraged to draw a range of turtles from when they hatch to adult size.
Mandarin
The Grade 1 and 2 students have been discovering the cultural activity. This week we discussed the importance of pandas and lions in Chinese culture. We also learned how to write these two animals in Pinyin as well as Chinese Characters.
Music
Grade 3/4 students are in the fourth week of completing a major composition project. The students were asked to imagine they are a successful songwriter and have been asked to write a song for their favourite artist/band. Before beginning the creative process they were asked to identify characteristics of their chosen artist’s/band’s music and reference this when writing their song.
The Grade 3/4 students have used music composition software to compose a full-length song with 4 sections and 4 instruments. They have learnt and applied several composition techniques including rhythmic repetition, melodic sequencing and call and response.

Last week Mr Angus took charge of our online workout sessions and what a fantastic job he did! Keep staying active, getting fresh air and cooking healthy meals. :) We have one more week before the school holidays so we thought we would provide a few links of our favourite workout channels.
