From Student to Staff

The College has been around for 43 years this year, and over this time it has changed, expanded and built up a community in which you are all involved in today. A number of our past students, since attending, have gone on to become valued staff members here at the College. Below is Lauren Dalton's (Class of '13) reflection.

What years did you attend the College?

I attended Waverley Christian College from 2010-2013 (Year 9 – Year 12).

What is your fondest memory of your years of being a student?

My fondest memory I have of High School was being a part of the school productions; specifically, being the lead flautist in the orchestra during Year 12 for Les Misérables (2013). The hours put into rehearsals leading up to the show, to the sound checks, to the back-stage shenanigans, and finally to the eight shows we performed. These have all had a lasting impact on my life that I will cherish. I also made long-lasting friendships in high school, and, to this day, we still all catch up and reflect on the “good ol’ days” of high school.

What are some of the main differences about WCC now compared to when you attended?

One of the biggest differences I notice every time I go back to the Wantirna Campus is the change from the asphalt carpark at the front of the College to several basketball courts. The courts are bright blue and there is no caretakers’ residence in sight. Another change is the extended oval (or 'squoval' as we would call it) into the Oval Carpark. It still has fake grass, so some things just don’t change.

What has never changed?

Mr Sheahan! Need I say more.

How long have you been working at WCC?

I’ve been working at the Narre Warren South Campus for 3 years and absolutely love it.

What do you love most about working at the College?

I love all the staff I work with. I have the most incredible team in the Primary school and the school culture is something I really appreciate. It is so encouraging to work in a Christian school where your colleagues become close friends and where you can openly pray for each other.

Any final thoughts/reflections on your time at WCC over the years?

I am so grateful for the lasting impact Waverley has had on my life. I have met the most amazing people through the College (both as a student and now a staff member) and pray that this continues.
