NUMERACY - Colleen Monaghan

With the Tokyo Games on it’s a great time to look at data. How many medals have Australia won? Which countries are at the top of the medal count? How many medals do we have altogether? How many more do we need to win to match the winning country? Compare medals won in the last two Olympics (Rio and London) Will we win more / less this time in Tokyo? What makes you say that?  Lots of measurement opportunities are also in most events too. Have fun with all that is happening in these Olympics.

Amazing work with our Juniors students this week. All turned up for our Maths meet and contributed well to the session. Think we had some pretty happy Elf’s at the end of it!  They were very happy

with how they used their make 10 facts to solve problems with larger numbers.

Caleb (1/2MD ) sent his work in to me.

Our Olympiad students worked on problem solving a variety of problems. Here is one of them:

They also came up with solutions to GAME 24. Here are a few:

(5x5) - (4-3) = 24

(5x3) + (4+5) = 24

6 x (4-1) +6 =24

(4+1) x6 -6=24

SSV Coburg District News

Winter Sport Finals.

At this stage, SSV Coburg District Winter Sport finals has been postponed indefinitely until restrictions indicate the allowance for interschool sport to recommence. Hopefully, division and region winter sport finals will be rescheduled so that our mixed football and girls’ soccer teams can compete at the Coburg District finals.

Stay tuned for further updates!!!!
