It’s great to see our music students back at school attending lessons and rehearsals. Fingers crossed there will be no more interruptions for the remainder of the year as you can’t beat face to face learning. Music staff have been commenting on the great progress some of our young musicians are making which is great news. A reminder to all students that a regular practice routine will see great improvement. They say “Practice Makes Perfect”, I think it’s true.

Rehearsals

Junior Concert Band: A reminder to all junior concert band players rehearsals are every Monday during lunchtime. Bring your lunch with you to A1 and of course don’t forget your instrument and music.

String Ensemble: Rehearsals take place in the Art Building Monday lunchtime.

Rock Band: This young energetic group rehearses every Thursday during lunchtime. An invitation to all guitar, keyboard players and drummers to come along and join in as this group is slowly building a repertoire.

Guitar Ensemble: This new group will commence in week 5 under the direction of Ryan Lestrange. Rehearsals will take place every Friday during recess. If you are interested see Ryan and don’t forget to bring your guitar to school.

End Of Term Concert

There will be an end of term concert on Wednesday 8th September in the Arts Building. The concert will begin at 7pm. It will feature our ensembles, soloists and small group items. Could all families please bring along a plate of supper to share after the concert. Please note it is compulsory for all students to perform on the night. Your teachers will help you prepare a solo or group item. We can’t wait to see you on the stage! There will be more details in our next newsletter with regards to bookings etc.

Learning A Musical Instrument

It isn’t too late to learn a musical instrument. There are so many choices offered at the College. You can learn to play a flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, keyboard, voice, violin, viola, cello drums and tuned percussion. If you are interested in having a trial on a particular instrument come over to A1 before school, recess or lunchtime and see Gerry to arrange a time.
