GWR Cross Country Finals
Thursday 15th July 2021
Address: Deakin University, Princes Hwy, Warrnambool VIC
On Wednesday 5th May YR 8 boys competed in the Eureka division Netball competition at Llanberris Netball centre. Due to popular demand Woodmans Hill entered two teams in the Year 8 division. This proved to be a master stroke with one of our teams winning ALL games, and the other only losing to the undefeated Woodmans team. It was great to see all boys using the skills practiced at school and coming together as teams to perform incredibly well.
Going undefeated also means that we move through to the GWR region and Netball Vic Schools Cup competition which are scheduled for Term 3.
Well done boys!
AND the Year 8 Boys netball also qualified for STATE FINALS!!
(but SSV also said netball state finals would not go ahead)

On Wednesday 5th May YR 9&10 boys competed in the Eureka division Netball competition at Llanberris Netball centre. The boys won their first game and looked to build on that, but the competition was stiff and ensured that we did not progress to the GWR finals.
It was great to see all boys working together and being inclusive and demonstrating sportsmanship at all times. Standout players were Toby Romeo in defense and Emmanuel Butler in goals and midcourt.
Well done to all on being a credit to our College.
On Thursday the 24th of June the year 9-10 girls competed in Eureka division netball competition against all public schools in Ballarat. Even though the girls didn’t win many games they did extremely well and kept their positive attitude up the whole day. I am very proud of all the girls that had the attitude to have fun no matter if they won or not. An outstanding player that was on the court yesterday was Amelia Trickey, she is amazing at shooting goals and always having a smile on her face. I would like to thank Miss Hollands for taking us to Llanberris Netball Stadium and keeping us on track the whole day.

We lost to Ballarat High and Phoenix’s A team, we beat Phoenix’s B team, drew with Mt Clear, and lost to Beaufort (but only just, and we should have won!)
It was good fun, and I need to give them all a merit because they were all great.
On Monday May 10, 19 students alongside Miss James and Mr McLeod braved the pouring rain and freezing wind to compete in the Eureka Cross Country at the Prince of Wales Park Alfredton. Seven students qualified for the Greater Western Region Finals in Warrnambool, which was due to be held on May 31, however has been postponed due to lockdown. A huge thank you to Maxine Farrell for her assistance on the day!
Well done Ryder Mason for finishing second in his age group, and to the 12-13 Year Boys who placed 3rd as a team.
Congratulations to all competitors for braving the elements, and best of luck to those who have qualified for the next stage!
