Principal's Message

Term 2 Week 10

Whole School Assembly

It was an absolute treat to address our whole school from Foundation to Year 4 on Friday.

3/4G were the hosts and they did an amazing job of presenting all of our awards - we had a couple of weeks to catch up on. Staff were very impressed with the attentive listening and engagement of all students. It was such a good example of our School Values in action with respect on display.

I was able to share a letter Marley from FJ wrote to me about the difficulties of lock down after she had viewed assembly.

Inquiry Centre Writing

Year 1/2 students finalised their procedure writing unit by making a recipe for Fairy Bread. They thoughtfully asked for the office staff to partake and we were able to tell us how to prepare our own Fairy Bread. Thanks for sharing Inquiry Centre.

5/6 Camp Coonawarra

Horse riding, giant swing, weather held, great food, camp fire....and very tried students and staff! So grateful we could get our 5/6 students off to camp. Huge shout out to staff who have made sure they have made memories for a long time to come. Hope that you were able to check out our Instagram page for some highlights.

Reports and Portfolios

Student reports will be published via Sentral this Wednesday. Please remember to download reports if you want to be able to have a copy for the future - particularly if students are in Year 6. Student Portfolios will be finalised for the Semester by this Wednesday and should be viewed in conjunction with the report.

Week 3 of Term 3 Three Way Conferences will be held (and we hope these will be face to face) with students, parents/carers and class teachers. The report, goals and reflections are discussed at the conference.

Planning Week

Look out for Curriculum Overviews that will come out through Sentral from all Learning Centres giving a break down of what will be covered each week in every curriculum area.

Junior School Production: Colour Catastrophe

The Junior School Production will be filmed on Wednesday 23rd by a professional company. There is a lot of excitement building in the Junior School with our full dress rehearsal on Tuesday ready for filming on Wednesday.

Curriculum Days Rescheduled

School Council approved our rescheduled Curriculum Days now that we have dates from the consultants we were going to work with.

Curriculum Day 3: Friday August 13th - focus on Writing and Social Skills development.

Curriculum Day 4: Monday 1st November (day before Melbourne Cup Day holiday.

School Council Report

School Council met last Thursday night. Immediately prior to the meeting we held the Public Reporting Meeting in which we reviewed the Annual Report and reflected on the past year. School Council noted the extraordinary work of the school staff in responding to the challenge of repeated lockdowns and periods of remote learning (including the most recent one). This has resulted in changes to almost every area of school operations. Staff have been consistently positive and committed throughout this period of uncertainty and change.

School Council discussed the progress of the inclusive playground, preparation for a working bee and the grant for development of the kinder playground. The Homework Policy has now been settled with feedback from the school community. The school is working to reschedule events or change the way in which they are delivered to ensure the student experience is not unduly impacted by restrictions. Council noted the significant amount of work that goes into events including the Arts Show and Junior Production – while parents have not been able to participate in these activities in the same way as previous years, the hard work and creative input of staff is greatly appreciated.
