In English in Term 3, we will be continuing with the Write to Read program and code work. Your child will benefit if you revise the codes daily. It is powerful for your child’s reading development if you practice their take home book each night with them and also read regularly to them. 

We will continue to learn the Magic Words that are sent home and move towards spelling all the words correctly. Practise spelling the words with your child at home on a daily basis. We will also encourage the children to experiment with punctuation when writing and begin to use full stops and capital letters correctly. 

Students will have focused handwriting sessions to assist them to learn to correctly position the letters on the dotted thirds and become consistent in their correct letter formation. Our writing genres will include written recounts, retells, correct sentence structure and some poetry.
