Mid Year Exams
Congratulations to our Year 11 and Year 12 students who successfully completed mid year exams in their VCE studies. Their behaviour was exemplary. Thank you to our teachers for providing timely feedback to students.
Year 11 And Year 12 Course Selection 2023
Year 10 and Year 11 students have been provided with information concerning 2023 course selections. This can be a daunting yet exciting process where students begin to make decisions that will help steer their future pathway. Thank you to Mrs Sharon Bourne, our Careers Practitioner, who has conducted presentations for our Year 10 students to introduce them to the Senior School course selection process.
Year 11 students only need an appointment if they wish to speak with a course counsellor or if they intend to do one or more of the following:
- Year 11 students who wish to complete a non-ATAR Year 12 program (unscored program)
- Year 11 students who wish to pick up a new subject
- Year 11 students who intend to drop Maths (exception: VCE Foundation Maths students are not required to participate in a course counselling interview).
Year 10 students will receive instructions on how to enter their course selection request on the course counselling system prior to their appointment. They will receive instructions on how to do this early in Term 3.
Tuesday 14 June, was the last day for the submission of Accelerated Subject Expression of Interest Forms and applications for the VCE Vocational Major program. All students who wish to study a Unit 3 & 4 subject MUST summit an Accelerated Subject Expression of Interest Form, this means that all students currently studying a Unit 1 & 2 subject who wish to study this subject as a Unit 3 & 4 sequence in their Year 11 program must apply by submitting an Accelerated Subject Expression form.

End Of Semester Reports
End of semester reports will be available online at the end of Term 2. This is a comprehensive report detailing your child’s progress for the first half of the year. It provides families with the opportunity to celebrate achievements and develop an action plan for future improvement. If parents have any enquiries concerning their child’s progress, please do not hesitate to contact the subject teachers or Year Level Coordinators.
Senior School Wellbeing Day
On Monday 20 June Year 12 students celebrated 100 days of success – we organised a cookie and congratulations card for each student, and we had a sausage sizzle at lunchtime. Year 11 students also received a lolly bag and congratulations card. The purpose of the day was to congratulate our Year 12 students on completing Unit 3 and 100 days of school, and to congratulate our Year 11 students on completing Unit 1.
We also had Declan Fay talk to our students. Declan's key messages to students included:
- making the most out of the opportunities that are in front of you
- finding humour in everyday
- looking out for your mates and your support network
Declan Fay is an award-winning writer, producer and director who co-created Ronny Chieng: International Student, which has screened on ABC, BBC, Comedy Central and Netflix. Over fifteen years, he has written for Rove, Dirty Laundry Live, Problems, and You’re Skitting Me and Retrograde.
Thank you to Ms Carla Caminiti, Ms Kelly Mitchell, Mrs Ellem D’Ambra and Mr Paul Don for organising this day.
Year 12 Formal
A very successful Year 12 Formal was held on Wednesday 8 June at the Mornington Race Course. The students were really looking forward to this night and loved celebrating with their teachers. Thank you to Mr Andrew Batchelor and all Year 12 Teachers who attended. It has been a long time for these students to celebrate at a school function as they did not have a formal in Year 10. Thank you to Ms Kelly Mitchell and Ms Carla Caminiti for their organization of the night.
Congratulations to the following award recipients:
Best Dancer: Nell Russell, Oli Katsianis and Oliver Craig
Best Dressed: Dave Petty, Theresa Brima and Bianca Middlebrook
Most Organised: Ethan Whinnerah, Quita Giampietri Radomski and Charli Evans
Social Butterfly: Remi Uccello, Connor Hardstone and Ewan McDowell
Students Driving To School
Students who drive to school are reminded that they must complete a consent form (which is available from the Senior School Office) and attach a photocopy of their driver’s licence.
Students are not permitted to park in the school grounds and hence, must ensure that they follow local parking restrictions on nearby roads. Students should also be aware that they must not park too close to the pedestrian crossings or driveways, particularly the entrance and exit to the Senior Campus.
Year 12 End Of Year Exams – September Holidays
Frankston High School is conducting Year 12 end of year exams during the September holidays. The exams will commence on Thursday 22 September and will conclude on Friday 30 September.
The advantages of this practice are clear including:
- ensuring students utilise their September holidays for revision;
- opportunities for our students to maximise their success/results;
- maximising class revision time in Term 4 where teachers can address areas of concern in student performance and exam technique and it provides opportunities for students to hone exam techniques and practices.
It is our expectation that Year 12 students would devote the third term holiday period to revision and study in preparation for these examinations and the final VCAA examinations. These examinations will be conducted under VCAA and Frankston High School guidelines. Final examination timetables will be distributed next term. These exams are compulsory and full school uniform is required.
Thank You To Senior School Teachers
As first semester draws to a close, I would like to thank the Senior School teachers for their excellent work and commitment to the students over the semester. Their tireless hours of work, both in and out of the classroom is outstanding to ensure students maximise their learning outcomes and performance.
Finally, I would like to wish all students and parents a relaxing holiday. It is an excellent opportunity to “recharge the batteries” ready for what will be a very important Term 3.
