ASX Sharemarket Game

2022 ASX School’s Sharemarket Game

During Term 1 and 2, three classes of Year 9 and 10 Wealth and Work students participated in the ASX Schools Sharemarket Game. The game gives secondary school students across Australia the opportunity to buy and sell shares using real companies, live share prices, and brokerage charges on every trade. Students receive a hypothetical $50,000 to create a virtual share portfolio and experience which tracks the sharemarket in real time. Many of our students experienced success on the game making a gain over a period of 10 weeks.

"The ASX Sharemarket Game was an enjoyable experience for both of us. We learnt how to manage shares and invest in the stock market. We also gained a greater understanding of how to save money and our choices when it comes to investing in the future. The fact we were competing with other schools in the game made us want to work harder to win. Although we did not win, we learnt how to take risks and be more confident in our future decisions. Overall, we were delighted to participate in the ASX Sharemarket Game."  Lily Sparrow and Maria Johnson

"By participating in the ASX Sharemarket Game, we were able to understand how to sell and buy shares, whilst using our money wisely. Throughout the ASX Sharemarket Game we observed how quickly companies can gain and lose money which taught us the importance of the relationship between risk and reward." Ropafadzo Gambiza and Ashleigh Belleville

"The ASX Sharemarket Game changed our lives and we appreciate everything it has given us today. It has taught us life skills and how to survive in the real world. Ms Dixon will be in our speech when we are multi-billionaires because she taught us how to invest in shares." Darcy Ellis, Marcus La Fontaine Pollard and Jhai Farrar

“This class allowed us to learn and expand our knowledge on how to handle money and what the future holds in investing. We all really enjoyed this class and recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about how to manage money in everyday life.” Olivia Blandford, Tayah Bennett and Megan Willis

Congratulations to Jordy Zvirbulis who finished first at Frankston High School with a portfolio value of $53,046.17 and the other class winners are Marcus Lafontaine Pollard and Ella McCrory.
