Circle Of Security Program term 2

Speech Pathology Tasmania warmly invites parents and carers to join Rosie Martin for The Circle Of Security Program. The term 2 program will take place on Tuesday evenings from May 10 – June 28. The course involves meeting in a small group online via zoom, once a week for 8 sessions.

This program explores the development of connection, relationship and attachment – which are also foundations for language development, social skills development and good mental health for parents and children. The insights gained can benefit all relationships.

Speech Pathology Tasmania has been running these sessions in their clinic for more than 10 years. “We love the warm, accepting, non-judgmental, non-blaming approach to exploring attachment.” Says Rosie.

The Foster and Kinship Carers Association of Tasmania will sponsor grandparents raising grandchildren, informal kin, and Foster & Kinship Carers to participate in the program.

Respite Carers needed in Tasmania

There is a huge shortage of respite carers in the state and we truly believe this is something the Christian community could rise up and meet the need. Respite care gives full time carers a break AND offers extended family and community for children who have been removed from this. The best respite care situations are where the respite carers are on the team around the child and the children don't even realise they are going to respite, but look forward to hanging out with their friends, 'foster grandparents', 'cousins' etc. Respite carers can be any age or stage of life and get to be the fun people in the kids life!

Respite carers still need to go through the same formal training as full time carers as we need to ensure safety around children. However, Fostering Hope is there to support people through the training and next steps. Each term we offer a 'preparation for fostering course' and can buddy new carers with existing carers and of course all carers join our awesome group of existing carers (definitely one of the best bits about the carer journey is getting to hang out with other carers!).

Fostering Hope is an initiative raising awareness of fostering to Christians. To find out more, please visit their

Online program to help families of children with eczema

Every day, thousands of Australian children suffer the effects of eczema, and families struggle with managing eczema and children’s behavioural and emotional adjustment.

Healthy Living Triple P is an adaptation of the successful Triple P - Positive Parenting Program, offering practical ideas and support for parents of children with eczema. This innovative online program is designed to help parents manage their child’s eczema more easily, help children cope with their eczema and emotions, prevent and manage difficult child behaviour, and reduce the impact of eczema on families.

Over the next few months, parents of 2-10 year old children with eczema are able to access Healthy Living Triple P free of charge as part of a research project through the Queensland Children’s Hospital, Griffith University, and the University of Queensland. For more information, please visit us at https://exp.psy.uq.edu.au/eczema/, contact Dr Amy Mitchell on (07) 3735 6462, or email healthyliving@uq.edu.au
