Junior School

Prep - Year 2

The end of term is just around the corner, and with 7 school days left (including today!) things have been ramping up at Weeden Heights Primary School!

Inquiry

This term in Inquiry, students have been looking at healthy living (eating and exercise) alongside the inner-workings of the human body.

Last Friday (10/06/2022) students from Prep to Grade 2 took part in a Yoga incursion.  In between learning about mindfulness and the benefits of stretching, students managed to have a ball with a few fun coordination games.

Numeracy

Over three weeks, the Grade 1 and Grade 2 students have been looking at units of measurement in their Mathematics lessons.  Beginning with length, moving on to mass and finishing off with capacity, students got their hands dirty to cap off a wonderful unit through the age-old practice of… baking!

In small groups, students measured out ingredients and mixed them together to create a simple yet yummy treat. Below are some images of the process.

Literacy

Grade 1 and 2 students have been spending the past few weeks writing information reports on a variety of subjects, from animals to bones and a world of things in between!
