Selamat Siang!

We hope you had an amazing extra long weekend and enjoyed some family time.

In Writing students have continued following the writing process of drafting, editing and publishing a variety of different poems. They have worked in creative teams to brainstorm and offer feedback to each other to help improve their writing. It has been wonderful to see students collaborate with each other, use their creativity and enjoy the writing process. You can see some of your child’s poems up on Seesaw by the end of the Term.

During our Literacy sessions we have been looking at different types of texts including many songs and their lyrics. Students listened to and followed the lyrics to identify and explain what the Author’s purpose was. We explored the words to the Australian anthem as well as the song ‘Try Anything’. Students also had the opportunity to make text connections and provide insight into what the songs mean to them.

Students have been exploring measurement in Maths. They have been using informal tools such as unifix blocks and pencils to measure objects around the classroom. They have also started using a ruler to measure and compare different items. Students also experimented with balancing weights and they made predictions about what object will be heavier or lighter.

In our Wellbeing sessions we have been sharing and discussing strategies we can use to help problem solve when an issue happens in the playground or with your friends. Some strategies include rock, paper, scissors to help with decision making, take deep breaths, talk to a friend or a teacher. We all have problems at different times so having a toolkit to go to manage our feelings really helps with problem solving.

We are looking forward to another wonderful week of learning!
