Even with the shorter nine week term, there was plenty of sport at the College for students to be involved in.
Starting with the House Athletics Carnival held at Casey Fields. This beautiful day saw lots of colour, cheers, races, jumps, throws and competitiveness. Columba House was crowned Athletics champions, keeping out Leonis House and Monoceros House who were tied for second place. Columba continued their hot streak with carnivals when the whole school participated in the House Cross Country event held at school. All students were asked to complete the 2.8km run and, once again, it was Columba who claimed overall victory beating Leonis House which came in second. The top runners have been invited to participate in the SIS Cross Country event which will be held in Term 3 on July 26 at Baxter Park. The following students were the winners for their year levels:
Year 7—Males: Garang Garran Females: Nyawichar Machar

Year 10—Males: Gabriel McDonald Females: Ajok Mading
Year 11—Males: Johanthan Ben Females: Jennifer Justin

Other activities included a Primary School Soccer Gala Day which was held at St John's. Numerous Primary Schools in the area were invited to play in a soccer tournament for the Paul Wade Cup. The SIS Swimming squad, after many weeks of training in Term 1, competed in the SIS Swimming Carnival at MSAC. St John’s came third overall which was a fantastic result and the swimmers should be proud of their efforts! Most of our swimmers claimed a ribbon of some sort. Year 8 swimming champion Emma Jorissen was also picked to represent the SIS Swimming Team in the VSAC tournament.
Weekly sport also occurred with all year levels getting a chance to show off their skills throughout the term. A big thank you to the coaches who helped out this term: Mr Eamonn Farrelly (Jnr. Boys Soccer), Ms Marina Kinztel (Jnr. Girls Soccer - which may claim the pennant pending other results), Ms Teagan Yates (Jnr. Mixed Table Tennis), Mr Nigel Adkin (Jnr. Boys Volleyball), Ms Thea Delfos (Jnr. Girls Netball), Mr Andrew Dias and Mr Tyler Halls-Ferguson (Snr. Boys AFL). Also a big congratulations to Mr Mark Alexander and the undefeated Intermediate Boys Volleyball team who managed to claim the overall SIS Inter Boys Volleyball pennant. Looking forward to another jammed-packed sporting term next term.
