New Child Safety Standards

New Child Safety Standards

New Child Safe Standards came into effect at the start of this month.  Changes have been made to the Standards that will increase protection for children and young people and provide clarity for organisations that must comply with the Standards.

Eleven Standards have replaced the previous seven, and include new requirements to:

  • involve families and communities in organisations’ efforts to keep children and young people safe
  • provide greater focus on safety for Aboriginal children and young people
  • manage the risk of child abuse in online environments.

As such, we have recently worked to update our policies in line with the new Child Safe Standards.  These policies can be found on our website and in the School Documentation section of COMPASS alongside our other policies.  This term, we will work with our staff and students to unpack these further and evaluate and strengthen our current practices and commitment to child safety.
