Year 10 Incursion
On Thursday the 8th of September, the Year 10 students were treated to a Bell Shakespeare Production.
Three actors visited Lalor North Secondary College to perform the works of Shakespeare while teaching the students the importance and impact of Shakespeare’s work on the world.
Students learned that Shakespeare was the first writer to create flawed and three-dimensional characters that felt and experienced the human condition. Before that, plays were largely based on characters who were entirely good or entirely bad. The play highlighted some of Shakespeare’s most famous works and how his characters represent what it is to be human – to love, to lie, to cheat, to fight, to show mercy, to be kind and to be deceitful.
The Year 10 students are currently studying ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and understanding values such as love, fate, and conflict.
Bell Shakespeare Company put on an entertaining, humorous, and insightful play, and we hope that all the students got something out of this experience.
