It’s been a busy term at LNSC!
Hello to the local Police, and other friends we met for a coffee and chat on Thursday 25th August. We were warmly welcomed by the police to join them, along with other community members to discuss the exceptional work they do in engaging local community – particularly in volunteering time to build relationships with young people. We look forward to continuing our work together to enhance programs at LNSC.
During our coffee, Angie and I had a lovely conversation with Doreen, a community member, who shared stories of her life.
We were also joined by Angela, who lives local to Lalor North Secondary College. She complimented us on the newly planted trees at the front of the school. These were planted by our students on Tuesday 23rd August to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Every student at Lalor North Secondary College planted a tree along the fence line which will form a beautiful hedge over the years.
Additionally, Ms Martin’s class participated in tree planting around the school’s vegetable garden. The college is recognised for its beautiful gardens and natural environment, and we continue to add plants to our environment as we connect and immerse students in nature to enhance our teaching and learning programs.
Celebrations since our last newsletter include the celebration of Science Week and Literacy Week. Thank you to all staff and students who participated in the fun activities provided by Ms. Drenen and Ms. Lucas, and their teams.
As part of Literacy Week, Maggie Jankulvska, the author of The Rat-Catcher’s Apprentice visited us and spoke about her life and pathway in becoming an author. Maggie is a former Lalor North Secondary College student. She found her inspiration for writing during her schooling and persisted with her dream of becoming an author. Thank you, Maggie for sharing your journey with us. We would also like to take this opportunity to reach out to all former students who would like to visit our college and share their successes.
Please give the office a call as we always happy to hear from you.
It was also wonderful to engage Lalor East Primary School in our Trivia Competition as part of Literacy week.
