Lifelong Reading

Library News

The Lalor North Secondary College Library is dedicated to finding the right reading material for each student, not only to improve student literacy, but to foster positive and enjoyable reading experiences for lifelong learning.

This term was no exception!

Book Week, Library and Information Week, and the Premiers’ Reading Challenge which closed earlier this month, encouraged our students to read more and boosted our circulation records by a huge 96.3%.

We have many of the titles in our library that won the CBCA Book Week Awards this year.

"Tiger Daughter” by Rebecca Lim, the winning novel in the Young Adult Reader award category, is highly recommended. It is the story of a young girl who is dealing with the pressures of her family, trying to help support her best friend who is struggling after the death of his mum, and also trying to get a scholarship to a new school. A good read!

Congratulations to all the students who participated and completed the Premiers’ Reading Challenge. These students will be awarded a certificate signed by the Premier next term.
