SECONDARY NEWS
From the Assistant Principal
Miss Kim Bailey

Last Friday, Year 10 students assisted with the annual Legacy fundraising activity in the central business district of Inverell. Their generosity, cooperation and willingness to be involved in community activities are commendable and a positive reflection on the students. It is hoped that as they mature into adults that they will continue to give their time to volunteer work. Thank you to Miss Honeysett for supervising the students on the day.

Parents are able to pay for the upcoming excursions via the Compass Portal.
If financial assistance is required, please contact Mrs Rainger as soon as possible.
Consent forms for various activities may still need to be signed and returned for excursions.
Final notes and relevant information pertaining to the excursions for Year 8 and Year 9 students will be sent to parents next week. Please contact the school if you have any queries relating to the upcoming excursions in Week 10.
Good luck to all students who are representing Holy Trinity at the diocesan basketball competition on Friday in Tamworth. Mr Uebergang, Mr Ehsman and Miss McLachlan will coach the students on the day.

Didjeribone is a uniquely Australian music experience accompanied by both personal and ancestral stories.
Using the didjeribone, face bass and cutting edge music production equipment, music is played, recorded then instantly played back on a loop to form a backing track. The process is repeated with loop track after loop track being added, creating a rich, deep, multilayered soundscape. It’s then that the true magic happens as from the didjeribone the haunting wind, howling dingoes and humorous kookaburras populate this genuinely Australian piece of music.
The Year 7 History/Geography excursion will take place on Thursday 8 September. This year the excursion is to Cranky Rock, Warialda. Aboriginal Cultural Site Services are leading the excursion and will provide students with valuable educational and cultural knowledge. Sharing these experiences helps students to develop a better understanding of the Stage 4 HSIE Syllabus.
This year, we introduced the concept of Rate a Mate in Week 8.Sometimes good deeds go unnoticed, and we would like to change this at Holy Trinity.
Students are offered the opportunity to say thanks and recognise peers for the good things that always happen. They are encouraged to let us know about someone who has followed our 'Rules for Living'.
This could have included many things - they may have made someone feel safe, valued, respected and cared for, helped someone else in learning, or always shown commitment to their learning.
The acknowledgement is anonymous and collected via Google Forms. Congratulations to the following students who were 'rated by a mate'.
The Google Form has been shared this week, and certificates will be presented at our next assembly.
This Wednesday, a team of bidding authors will participate in the Write a Book in a Day competition. Write a Book in a Day is a fun, creative and collaborative competition for students in years 5 to 12 and adult writing groups. Teams of up to ten have just twelve hours to write and illustrate a book from start to finish. To make it even more fun, the story must include unique parameters.
Thanks to Mrs McLachlan for coordinating the event. The students will work in the Library and start at 8.30 am and finish at 6.00 pm. Good luck to our writers!
Welcome to Miss Teagan McLachlan who joins us this week for a Professional Experience block. Mr Uebergang will be supervising the placement in the PDHPE Faculty.
