There are still lots of illness in our community. As many of you know, we have students in our school community who are currently receiving medical treatment for cancer. These students will be attending school while recovering from treatment.
As a consequence of treatment, these students’ ongoing health is at risk if he/she comes into contact with infectious illnesses, in particular: chicken pox, measles, mumps, COVID or whooping cough. If your son or daughter is suspected of having one of these illnesses it is very important that he/she does not attend school. It is also important that while your child is unwell he/she remains at home until he/she is no longer contagious.
Information on infectious conditions can be found on national health websites e.g.: www.health.gov.au or alternatively, contact your local GP.
If your child has chicken pox, measles, mumps, COVID or whooping cough or is suspected of having an illness, please contact the school immediately. This will allow the school to assess the probable contact and, therefore, exposure of our students to the disease. Notification can then be given to the parents and medical specialists.
As a school community, we value your support in relation to the wellbeing of all of our students. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Last week I had an opportunity to do a learning walk and talk. It was during our literacy block time in the primary and all different subjects in Secondary. What struck me was the wonderful work students do in small groups, supporting their peers and learning from each other. So many careers require great interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others, and our students are developing these skills. Our three rules for living support this work - I am safe, I am valued, respected and care for, and I am a learner. These are just some of the photos I took of small group learning in action.
Likewise, it was lovely to see our staff working together last Friday to make our Father's Day Breakfast a success. From the planning team to the serving team to the BBQ team, staff working together and supporting each other makes the event what it was. Thanks to all our Dads and Pops who came along and enjoyed each other's company. Thank you also to our P and F, who also worked as a team to make the Father's Day stall a success!
Families of students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 will receive their NAPLAN results. Overall we are proud of our results. Unfortunately, NAPLAN was not held two years ago due to COVID 19, and we were unable to track the growth of our students.
Also, this week you will be receiving your P and F Art Union and Race Day Raffle tickets. Please read the flyer that is with the booklet.
Thank you to the families that have made the change from Flexischools to Spriggy School for canteen ordering. This is the last week for Flexischools. The refund process is easy. Please read the canteen section of the newsletter for further details.
This week I am in Melbourne for the National Catholic Education Commission Conference. Miss Bailey will be acting Principal during the week.
See you next week,
Jill
