Lara Kurtonal - Kids Giving Back

Most students spend their school holidays relaxing at home and going out with friends. Last school holidays, Year 8 student Lara Kurtonal spent her time giving back to the community through Kids Giving Back.

Lara was one of 500 young people who volunteered their time to produce more than 13 500 meals, care packs and tote bags for 13 charities around Sydney. Clothes for 12 000 people were also prepared and a twice-a-week soup kitchen provided more 1000 servings to vulnerable people.

‘I have participated in the 48-hour backpack challenge, where I lived as a refugee person would, including sleeping in a tent, and only using the items kept in the backpack. Helping refugees is a good thing’, said Lara.

What a fantastic effort! Congratulations to Lara for her selfless dedication to helping people!
