Graduating Class of 2022

To the Graduating Class of 2022

Congratulations Year 12 for reaching the end of 13 years of formal education. To receive an HSC is a significant achievement that you should all be very proud of. You have all faced many significant challenges along the way and you have overcome them with your determination to succeed.

In the coming weeks, you will be tested on your knowledge of the subjects that you have studied and judged on your ability to apply information and structure a response. You will receive some marks and if you have an ATAR pattern of study, you will receive a score representing how well you performed compared to others in the state. However, these marks and numbers do not reflect the growth in the people that you have become. They do not measure your resilience, determination, leadership, grit, your ability to collaborate, or your sense of humour, adventure, and fun. These are the learnings that you will take from your time here at Cecil and that will last a lifetime - long after you have forgotten those numbers!

The next few months and years are exciting times, as you choose which direction the next phase in your life will take. There will be options all around you, but it is up to you to take the initiative and seize the opportunities that come your way. There will be no more lectures about pit crews, gratitude, rocks or socks, but we are confident that you are ready to find your own success and realise your dreams.

Although, your time at school is coming to an end, you will always be a part of the fabric of Cecil. This is and always will be your school. I hope that you take the time to return sometime and keep us up to date on your progress. It has been a privilege to have worked closely with you and your families over your journey and I thank you for the positive contribution that you have made to our school. It is because of you, that this is, without a doubt, the best school in NSW!

Go well and I wish you all the best.
