Week 10 Term 3

Book Week

Wow! What a fabulous Book Week! Starting with our Excursion to Cube 37 on Monday to see Roald Dahl and the Imagination Seekers we immersed ourselves in the wonderful world of books. Our parade on Tuesday was just superb! Every single member of the class was dressed up and joined in the fun. On Wednesday the Year 3-6 students participated in Book Week rotational activities based on four of the Book Week Shortlisted finalists. Then on Thursday we watched a live performance here in the Red Centre called Story Quest. Throughout the week, the Book Fair was open for students to purchase some new books and accessories. It was also great to hear a number of students tuned in to Google Meet for a bed time story. On Monday afternoon we wrapped it all up when we watched Roald Dahl's The Witches.

Father's Day Breakfast and Footy Day

A big thank you to all students and their families who helped make our recent Footy Day and Father's Day Breakfast a great success. Your enthusiasm and participation is what makes these celebrations even more memorable. Over the past couple of years we haven't been able to have such events here at school, so to be able to offer these days to our students was very rewarding.

SFX Circus Spectacular

Across the term we have been preparing for our SFX Circus Spectacular at George Jenkins Theatre. The children have been working hard each Friday of the term (with a few bonus practises along the way) to put together their performance. Each and every student can be commended for their enthusiasm and dedication to performing to the best of their ability. Along the journey we've emphasised the importance of fun, participation and resilience, over the need for perfection. Mistakes are encouraged and expected! We hope that a performace like this will be a memory that the children and parents will always cherish of their time here at SFX.

Looking ahead to Term 4

Can you believe we are on the cusp of beginning Term 4 already! Time flies when you're having fun. Hopefully next term will be just as fun and exciting as this term. In Maths we will again work through addition, subtraction, multiplication and division strategies. We will revise our work on fractions and decimals and look into other areas of measurement such as volume, capacity and mass.

Our Inquiry topic will be called Frame by Frame, where the students will create their very own stop motion animations. In Writing we will develop, plan and write a story to go with our animations. We will again use the Seven Steps to Good Writing to help us write our stories. There will be a specific focus on Dynamic Dialogue.

The children will continue to do Performing Arts, Italian, PE, Fitness and Visual Art. These will remain on the same day as in term 3. On the calendar there is also a Grandparents Morning and a Water Safety Day at PARC swimming pool. More details of those events to follow next term.

Have an awesome spring break!

Take Care, Brendan.
