Sustainability

Last Tuesday we attended the Go Green Sustainability Student Voice Summit with students from all around Australia. We were hearing from students about what sustainability projects they were working on at their schools.

We liked Jane Goodall's quote:

Kirsty Bishop-Fox from Sustainability Victoria gave us lots of examples of people who have made a difference including:

  • Spencer Hitchen who is saving habitat in his local areas.
  • Greta Thunberg who showed us that you are never too small to make a difference
  • Molly Steer who promoted a Straw No More project.

THIS MONTH IS SUSTAINABILITY SEPTEMBER.

Below is a link of what’s on in Melbourne and some great ideas on how to be more sustainable and say no to plastic.

It would be great if your child could reduce their plastic waste this month, both at school and at home. As were a nude food school  you could consolidate conversations why we should consider what we buy and how it’s packaged.

Mornington Peninsula Shire have a great site on what can be recycled and where. Here is the link.

Over the next few weeks we will have some sustainable prizes for fabulous Nude Food.

The Mornington Peninsula Shire has committed to phasing out plastic by 2030 and at the end of this year the following items will be banned at all council facilities, services and events.

  • plastic bags, polystyrene
  • straws, stirrers
  • cutlery, crockery
  • drinkware, coffee cups, bottled water containers
  • takeaway containers, individual condiments
  • balloons, glitter
  • cling wrap, individually wrapped items
