LS1 Juniors Week of Fun!

Taekwondo in LS1

LS1 Juniors have started their Taekwondo Clinics for Term 3. The children have had so much fun learning the different skills related to Taekwondo including jabbing, boxing stance and many more.

Feast of the Assumption- Monday 15th of August

On Monday we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption at SFS. It was very special having the juniors from St Kevin's Primary School visit us and join in our celebrations.

During the day our juniors showed Respect, Responsibility and Kindness towards our visitors. The children worked together and played “get to know you” games where they shared something interesting about their new friends. We also completed an art piece based on Mary, which we called the “Marion Lisa”.

We explored what and who the Feast of the Assumption celebrates and used this information to complete our beautiful art pieces. We also came together for a special liturgy in LS3. The day went so quickly and we enjoyed coming together as a Parish to celebrate and meet one another after not being able to do so for the last two years.

LS1 Junior Mathematics Sessions

Clinic 2

This week in Clinic 2 the children have been investigating the features of three dimensional objects. Children shared their understanding of vertices (corners), faces (flat surface) and edges by describing the features of different objects.

Clinic 3

This week clinic 3 have been exploring Shapes. At the start of this unit, children investigated different orientations of two dimensional shapes (e.g. flip, slide and turn). Using this understanding, the children interpreted the features of three dimensional objects using mathematical language to describe the points of view (e.g. top, side, front and under).

Our team is now finalised and we would like to congratulate the students who qualified and also all the students who put their name down to try out. We encourage everyone to try out again next year.

Further details are available on Operoo for parents whose children have qualified. Please give permission via Operoo and ensure your child’s profile is up to date.

SWIMMING

THANK YOU TO ALL PARENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE OPEROO FORM AND RETURNED THE SWIMMING ABILTY FORM. BOTH WERE DUE TODAY.

We ask any parents who have not yet given permission on Operoo and completed and returned the swimming ability form to do so, as I will need to finalise numbers with the pool and also hand over the ability forms.

Remember to assist you must have a current Working with Children Check and it must be registered with the School Office.

The Victorian State Government in conjunction with Lifesaving Victoria have published some material explaining the importance of school swimming lessons. I have included the links to this material for your reference.
