NEWS & ADMINISTRATION

Mrs Caroline Galea

Dear Parents,

We have once again made it to the end of another term. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support throughout Term 3. Your enthusiasm and encouragement towards us and towards your children and their learning is what makes our community such a wonderful thing to be part of.

Fathers' Day

I hope that all the dad's had a special day on Father's Day. We had a wonderful turn out at our sausage sizzle. It was a great opportunity for the dads to connect with other dads from around the school. Congratulations to all our raffle ticket winners (Scott, Mark and Phil), we hope that you enjoyed your prizes.

Time for Summer Uniforms

As we head into Term 4, just a reminder that the students will need to wear their summer uniform. This is a good opportunity to see what still fits and check hem lines as many children have undoubtably grown in the last few months. A reminder that hats and sunglasses also need to be worn.

Footy Week

This week the House Captains and some of our wonderful teachers have hosted some fun games at lunch times raising money for My Room; a great charity fighting for children's cancer. Tomorrow, Friday 16th of September, we end this fantastic week by dressing up in our footy colours in anticipation for the Grand Final in the holidays. Don't forget to bring in your gold coin donation so that we can continue to raise money for our P&F.

Parent Feedback on Composite Classes

Thank you to all those parents who have approached us in the yard or sent through emails to seek answers/clarification to the questions/concerns that they may have had regarding composite classes. For those who may still have some questions or want further clarification we will be holding a Q&A night on WEDNESDAY 5th October at 7:00pm in the hall where we will further address some of the concerns that have been raised. Please don't hesitate to speak to a member of leadership, or your child's teacher if you would like to clarify anything or talk further about it. Although we do encourage that you chat with each other, we don't want misinformation to be fuelling the anxieties of any member of our community, and we are happy to talk through this directly with you.

Year 5 and 6 Production - Pirates vs Mermaids

Our Year 5 and 6 students are getting very excited about their up and coming production on Wednesday 26th October.  Adults and children requiring a seat will need to purchase a ticket. Tickets are available for purchase from the office from Monday 10th October at a cost of $5 each. You can choose to attend the matinee session (12:30pm) or the late afternoon session (5:30pm).

Working Bee

As the weather begins to fine up and the sun appears, we will be having a working bee to take care of some of the jobs around the school grounds. Our working bee will take place on Sunday 9th October from 8:00am to 12:00pm. There will be a number of gardening activities around the school and some general maintenance. The more hands on deck, the easier it will all be.

School Fees

Thank you to those parents that have made an effort to pay their school fees throughout the year. There are still many fees that are outstanding and we would appreciate it if these could now be paid.  If you are experiencing difficulties please let me know.

School Closure Day Change

In our newsletter, you would have noticed that we have two school closure days scheduled for Term 4. The first of these is on Monday 31st October (Cup Eve). The second one which was scheduled for 1st December has been changed to Monday 19th December. After consultation with the staff and seeking permission from MACS, this second date has been moved to late December. The 19th of December was going to technically be the last day of the year for children in Years Prep-5.  Instead, Friday 16th December will now be the last day of the year for all year levels.  This means that all children will finish at 1:00pm. The day will end with a guard of honour for the Year 6 students at 12:30 and at 1:00pm, the rest of the children will be dismissed after returning to their classrooms to collect their bags. The 1st of December therefore, is a normal school day.

Story Time is Back!

Do you have a preschool aged child that enjoys listening to stories?  Why not bring them to story time? Holy Name will once again be running our story time sessions. This is open to all preschoolers.  The sessions will be held in the Library area from 2.30 to 3.15pm.

ASSEMBLY

Assembly will be in the Hall every Monday at 2:30pm.  All parents are welcome.
