Wellbeing

Our school is committed to delivering  the Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships curriculum. Respectful Relationships is an initiative to promote respect and equality. It also supports educators to teach our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

This week staff at Swan Hill North Primary School took part in Professional Development delivered by Deidre Reid our Local Area Project Lead for Respectful Relations to up skill our staff in delivering Topics 7 (Gender and Identity) and Topic 8 (Positive Gender Relations). Research shows that children become aware of gender at an early age, being aware of gender norms and making efforts to fit within gendered expectations by the time they are in kindergarten. This means that it is important to commence work in building positive gender relationships within the early years.

It has been wonderful to see North return to school this term on Tuesdays and Thursdays. When Miss Kelly puts on his work collar, North knows he is going to school for the day and gets very excited.

Teachers working with North this term have noticed that he is getting very comfortable around the school yard and in the classroom and students continue to follow the guidelines really well. It's an absolute credit to our students and goes along way to helping North feel comfortable in his surroundings.

We are already seeing so many wonderful benefits of having North at school, students love seeing him when they arrive at school, he is helping to calm students through co-regulation and he continues to provide a general positive environment when he is in classrooms.

We look forward to training some more staff to work with North this term.
