Book Week Dress-Up
Since 1945 the Children's Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. It is to celebrate books and the joy of reading.
This year, Book Week ran August 20-26. We held our dress-up day on Wednesday, August 24. Many of our students and staff dressed up for the occasion. We saw characters from the Dr. Suess books, Hairy Maclary, To Kill a Mockingbird, the Bible, and, of course, quite a few Disney characters! It was such a great day to celebrate books and encourage everyone to embrace the joy and wonder of reading.
We had a parade of students to showcase their costumes and characters, and handed out prizes to those who won 'Best Dressed' in each of the classes. This year's winners were also named student of the week. Many thanks to our judges. We had three teacher judges - Dr Tim, Mrs Wheaton, & Miss Jasper. We also had two student judges from year 10 - Gloria Tu'i and Katie Doolan. Many thanks also to the mums and dads and other friends who came along to support our students and join in the fun.
Congratulations to our winners!
