Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

“Empowering students for learning and life”

Year 12 Students

Our Year 12 students are in the final stretch of their Year 12 school year, with final school based assessments occurring and preparation for their final exams.  Year 12 parents will be receiving another progress report which summarises their student’s attendance, progress to date and timely submission of work.  Mr Anthony Brannan and I will be reviewing these reports and will continue to meet with students and invite parents in as required.  We have met with many students to date and have had very positive conversations with our students. Friday 31st August Elevate Education are coming out to the school to work with our year 11 and year 12 VCE students on exam focussed study and stress & wellbeing. We will continue to support and have high expectations of all our students and encourage them to do their best in achieving their own personal goals.

2018 Parent Opinion Survey

Parents who have been randomly selected have received an email inviting them to complete the Parent Opinion Survey, offered by the Department of Education and Training.  I would like to thank all parents who went on line and completed the survey.  I would also like to thank the families who attended the morning tea which was held on Thursday 16th August for parents to come in and complete the survey, enjoy morning tea and provide feedback on things such as uniform changes for 2019. This year has been our highest response rate. The Parent opinion Survey is conducted independently of the College; the survey results will be reported back to our school at the end of September.

The survey is an important tool that will assist us with future planning and improvement for our school's parent engagement strategies.  It will be tabled at School Council and presented to all staff.  The Leadership Team will use this to inform the work we do for continued school improvement.

We look forward to reviewing parent feedback through this survey as it will guide the future of our school.

We are very proud of their achievements.

Don’t forget to pop in to see the banners and posters.

Lyndhurst Secondary College Community Connectedness

Lyndhurst Secondary College students are embarking on a series of visits to local organisations to develop relationships and forge community partnerships.  Our year 7 ACE students are currently visiting Courtenay Gardens Primary School every fortnight this time to read with and help the grade one students in class. Our Year 8 ACE students are putting their final touches on a mural they have been making. They also attended a day at Quantum which is a science school at the beginning of the term to develop their coding skills.

On Thursday 23rd August, nominated year 7 & 8 students were given the opportunity to work with Casey Tech School at Lyndhurst Secondary College in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) workshops. Students were given the opportunity to work with some of the Tech Schools latest equipment including 3D Printers, virtual reality games and CAD (computer-aided design) drawing. The students had a great experience with lots of team work and problem solving activities.

Lyndhurst Secondary College continues to strengthen community partnerships with the intention of more visits to more organisations in the future, building lifelong learning skills in our young adults.

We are very proud of all involved but a very special thank you must go to Sue Carroll and Claire Clancy, who have put in a great deal of work behind the scenes to make this happen.

4Cs

Once again, our students are participating in 4Cs.  4Cs stands for Cultivating Creative Cultures within communities and is an event celebrating Pasifika culture through dance and performances. The performance is on Thursday 30th of August at Belgrave Heights Convention Centre at 6pm. We have been following the students as they rehearse and fortunate enough to get a small preview during last Monday's assembly.  The event is a great night and we look forward to seeing the wonderful performances of our students.
