Sam's in Singapore
Not only is Sam Riches pretty handy in the classroom, he also has skills on the soccer pitch.
Sam was selected to join the regional South West Phoenix team who headed to Singapore last week, to play against other teams from across Asia. Youth teams from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Thailand and the Philippines join in the opportunity to compete against one another in the SingaCup, in what is a phenomenal chance to test skills against players and teams from our corner of the globe.
The Phoenix team U 16’s ended up 4th out of 20 teams, after a nail biting semi final, losing 0-1.
The weather was hot and humid but the boys did a great job and had an amazing experience.
Congratulations Sam!
Family Affair at the Weld

National Stage Racing
As the Mountain Bike Season comes to a close, the local press provided a round-up of capes riders who have been frequently on the podium over the last year, and some who attended the recent National Championships in Adelaide. Our Head Boy, Jayden Fraser made the list.

Mr Lane's a Local Champion
One of the world's largest online Bike suppliers is Chain Reaction Cycles, and they recently sought out nominations from across the globe for local people who support their communities in the cycling arena.
Mr Lane, our Groundsman and MTB Coach (On-Track), was nominated for his contribution to grassroots development, and he was named as a runner-up. The announcement was made live by video from the UK last Friday, and there are a few photos that were included on the announcement, which include our very own State Winning MTB team. For his efforts, Mr Lane wins some resources to support his endeavours.
Well done Mr Lane. We are so proud of you!
