Uniform Fittings - Dunsborough Pre-Primary 2019
As the end of year approaches and we're planning for next year, Dunsborough will be having two mornings at the end of the term set aside specifically for students to have a uniform fitting ready for Pre-Primary 2019.
- Wednesday 21 November and Wednesday 28 November
- 8.15am- 9am
Parents will be able to guide their children in trying on uniform and working out size options. Orders will then need to be placed online via the College website. Orders placed before Thursday 29 November will be packed and ready for collection before the end of the term.
Orders placed after this date will be available for collection when the College office re-opens in January 2019. An email will be sent out to to parents with collections days/times.
The returns policy on uniform is indicated on the College website: http://www.cornerstone.education/parents/uniform/
If these fitting times are not convenient, please contact Elle Maynard at the Dunsborough Administration to make alternative arrangements.
Timetable Changes for Busselton Primary Campus
Next year we are making a change in the Primary School timetable. School will start and finish at the same time, however it will affect our recess and lunch times. Recess will be later and longer from 11:00-11:30 and lunch will also be later but shorter, from 1:00-1:30.
We have made these changes so we can have a longer morning session because we have found the most productive learning time is in the morning when children are fresh and ready to focus.
Our Crunch and Sip time will most likely change to the morning. Classroom teachers will give you more information on this at the beginning of next year.
The change in timetable means there will be some crossover time with the Secondary School lunch. Recess times will still be separate but at lunch time there will be 20 minutes crossover. Primary School students are required to sit down and eat for the first 5-10 mins so it will only affect the middle part of their lunch break. To provide some separate play areas during this time only Primary school students will be allowed on the Nature Play equipment and only Secondary students will be allowed in the gym.
We are looking forward to building our student community through closer interactions and a more productive morning of learning in the Primary School.
The New Look School Board
We have some remarkable people that have served on our College Board over the years, and after some significant periods of service, two specific people are now stepping off and it's time to say 'thanks'.
Our Board Secretary, Mr Michael Wallace concluded with the Board a few months back, and we wish to take this opportunity to thank him for his contribution to the College over some pivotal years. Thanks Michael!
Secondly, after over 12 years of service, our Board Chair, Dr Gavin Riches, is hanging up his chairman's hat. Gavin has been instrumental in many changes over the years and we are grateful for his humble and servant heart that has been a great blessing to us as a College.
Formal recognition of Gavin's service will be made at the upcoming Presentation Nights - so keep an eye out for that.
New Directors are on the way in, and once the induction process is complete, we will be in a position to advise about the new names on the Board. We are so grateful to God for their willingness to serve our College in this way.
School Bus Services Correspondence
Good afternoon, everyone
As you know, it’s that time of the year again and School Bus Services (SBS) have commenced planning for the 2019 school year.
To ensure there is ample time to process applications ready for the 2019 school year please ensure that your child/ren’s school bus transport requirements are passed along to SBS. It will be appreciated if you consider the following questions and take action where appropriate:
CHANGE TO CIRCUMSTANCES
· Is your child changing schools in 2019, including changing from primary school to high school and will need to catch the bus?
· Are you moving address before the 2019 school year commences?
· Do you have an additional child that will require orange school bus transport for the first time in 2019?
· Does your child have a Medical Condition, or has their Medical Condition changed?
If you have answered YES to any of these questions you will need to submit a new application for Transport Assistance. This can be completed online through the SBS website at:
You are not able to use the Change of Details form on the website in place of submitting a new application.
New applications need to be submitted to SBS as soon as possible. Applications lodged after 14 December 2018 may not be processed in time for the 2019 year and in this case you may need to provide private transport.
Thank you for your assistance.
Kindest regards
Amanda Watson

Uniform reminder - 2019
If shoe shopping is on your list for preparing for the new school year, please remember that sports shows MUST be joggers - not boots, sketchers or slip-ons. White soled shoes are best for the gymnasium floor where possible.
Thanks for helping us in this way!
Lost Guitar
On Thursday 1st November, a guitar was lost and the owners are desperately hoping for its return.
If you have come across a classical guitar in a black case, which has a blue material bag with a couple of music books in it, we know where it belongs. The name 'Sidwell' is on the guitar and 'Eden' on the books.
If you know of its location, please let our front office know.
Booklists - Busselton
The Booklists for 2019 headed home last week. The documents are also now on the website, ready to access if you feel particularly enthusiastic about preparing early.
Please note that the prices indicated on the sheets apply to the 'Back to School' promotion, and won't be what you pay now if you visit Callows. To access those special deals, the order needs to be made online (to collect/deliver later), or to purchase in person in January.
To access online ordering, use our access code of CCC2019.

Protective Behaviours Workshop in 2019
Our College has the responsibility to protect children and keep them safe when they are in our care. The Child Protection Curriculum we have adopted teaches all children from a young age, in an age appropriate way. We will continue following this curriculum in 2019. To support our community with this important information, we are organising a protective behaviours workshop for parents in Term 1. Please be on the look out for more information at the beginning of next year. The workshop is being generously sponsored by the O'Malley Family and their business, Fairtel.
The following is a brief summary of the curriculum:
Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum (KS:CPC)
The Department for Education Child protection in schools, early childhood education and care services policy (2015) states that ‘all children and young people in DECD preschools and schools will access the approved child protection curriculum’.
The KS:CPC teaches children and young people to recognise abuse, tell a trusted adult, understand what is appropriate and inappropriate touching and ways of keeping themselves safe.
The curriculum is based on two main themes which are presented through topics and activities.
- Theme 1: We all have the right to be safe
- Theme 2: We can help ourselves to be safe by talking to people we trust.
The two themes are explored through four Focus Areas, which are examined in growing complexity in accordance with the age of the learners.
- The right to be safe
- Relationships
- Recognising and reporting abuse
- Protective strategies.
More information can be found on the KS:CPC website: http://tiny.cc/KSCPC-ParentCarerInfo.
Canteen Sausage Sizzle Day
Transition Day is on Wednesday the 21st November, and the canteen is putting on a special menu for the occasion.
Keep an eye out for further details in the next day or so, but in the meantime, students can start getting excited about the Sausage Sizzle (and maybe some special extras!) that will be on offer. Stay tuned for further details!
