The Principal's Pen

The Principal's Pen

It is vital that schools are a safe place for children and it is a characteristic that is often used when describing Cornerstone. Our small size, caring staff and supportive community help to provide a College that allows students to develop in a secure environment. It is also important to remember that this environment is a product of intentional decisions and policies within the College. We are currently reviewing our policies, ready for next year and a guiding document that is helping us in this review is “Creating Child Safe Institutions” from the recent Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. This document provides a framework to help schools in making sure they are covering all the essential aspects of policies and practices.

I will continue to let our community know through the newsletter about how we are progressing with the implementation of our policy reviews but parents are able to contact me at any time if they would like to discuss this aspect of our College. We are committed to building on this safe culture at Cornerstone and welcome the partnership of our parents in delivering that for their children.
