Year 7 & 8 Girls Netball
Late in Term Two, the year 7 and year 8 girls Coburg High School netball teams competed in the divisional netball tournament. Both year levels were strongly represented with A and B teams playing very well. After a full day of close matches, a bizarre statistical anomaly meant that the 7A and 8A CHS teams were tied with the 7A and 8A from Pascoe Vale. It was so close that the tournament director was unable to quickly figure out the winners. CHS left wondering if they’d done enough to get through to Regional Finals. Fortunately, the email arrived the next day saying that both Coburg teams had won on count-backs! Congratulations to all in the 7A and 8A teams! Congratulations are also in order for the members of the 7B and 8B teams, who improved their netball skills and played with great spirit all day - each team recorded wins and at one point, it was looking like we might have a Coburg A vs Coburg B situation at the top of the table. Thanks to Esther Neal and Jasmine Spence for assisting with coaching on the day and good luck to our teams at Regionals!
Year 8 PE
In PE this term, 8F are participating in a SEPEP unit. This is a unique and fun unit of PE where students are placed into teams, then take on all the various roles associated with organising and running a sporting tournament.
8F has been working very hard over the last few lessons to make sure everything is organised and are now ready to start running their tournament. They’ve created team names and logos, a fixture, agreed on rules and organised coaching sessions for each other. Impressive work!
The five teams in the 8F SEPEP league are:
1. Vicious Vipers
2. Thrashers
3. The Kebab Masters (T.K.M)
4. Soccatoos
5. Hot Dogs
Good luck to all teams for upcoming games and results will be posted at the end of the season!
Here’s some examples of the work they’ve created so far:
