Staff Professional Development Day

On the 22nd of February, teaching staff came together to hear from a very special international guest speaker, Dylan Wiliam. If you are a teacher, Dylan Wiliam is a big deal, he is sort of like the Justin Bieber of education! From now on our teachers will be trialing new practices, so they are even more aware of what students understand and don’t understand in class, and are then better able to cater to their learning.

Dylan Wiliam is Emeritus Professor of Educational Assessment at University College London and over the last 15 years, his academic work has focused on the use of assessment to support learning.

He now works with groups of teachers all over the world on developing formative assessment practices. Hampton Park Secondary College was also very excited to host guests from surrounding schools including Nossal High School, Frankston High School, Rivergum Primary School, Hampton Park Primary School, Lyndhurst Secondary College and The Emerson School.

Guests were greeted by some of our amazing students including Calvin Dmoss, Lily Edwards, Ana Luca, Celeste Creta, Kaira Te and Zinab Mahajer. The day was officially opened by Felicity Junaidy, Salman Yousufi and Jessica Hogan. External guests could not stop talking about how professional, articulate and passionate our students were.

At lunch everyone enjoyed music from our incredibly talented students Pene Va, Jurel Ortencio, Lachlan Barratt and Tyla McGregor.

Thank you to all staff and students who were involved with the day.

Our second team, Rabia Batool, Taiba Karimi, Sima Wahdat, Manmeet Singh and Muklesa Hana competed against Nossal High School.

These students beautifully presented their speeches and represented our school and college values to the highest standard.
