The musical closed last weekend and was a hit with the audience. There were some outstanding performances from the leads in the play and the company supported them in their roles. A big thank you to Mr Michael Cooper who directed and produced the show and to the Musical Director, Ms Robyn Cole and Choreographer, Mr Jevon Scandrett. Just like the many students who were involved, a large number of staff were also involved, Mr Kim Forward, Mrs Stephanie Abela, Ms Kerri Batch, Mr Daniel Pedersen, Mr Tom Thorneycroft, Ms Jacqueline Flood, Miss Felicity Donohue, Mrs Gail Sims, Mrs Kelly Brennan, Mrs Caron Flynn, Ms Sherry Sadler, Ms Jacquelyne Armstrong, Mr Luciano Bernes, Mrs Pauline Malkoun, Mrs Jayne Boon, Mr Linden Koodravsev, Ms Stephanie Opasinis, Ms Laura Capraro, Ms Annamaria Meszaros, Mrs Mona Harsan, Mrs Rhonda Edmonds and Mrs Jenny Lilley. We also thanked Mr Nick Frampton for returning to fulfill his role in the band and thanked him for his contributions to the school.
Thank you to the many parents and families who supported students, there were many glowing comments also from visitors to the College. A true team effort!
Galway Events
Finals for Galway debating and the Galway senior student leaders events were held recently, with students representing the College admirably. The junior and intermediate teams won their divisions and the senior team just missed out.
Parent Teacher Interviews
The first evening of interviews were held this week and another evening is scheduled for next week. These interviews are an opportunity to speak to teachers about your child’s progress and follow up matters that came from the end of semester reports. Parents can keep an eye on student progress by logging into My Aitken. Continuous feedback provides more immediate information on progress.
Building Works
The VCE stair link between buildings VCE and VCE3 is making progress and is taking shape. The balustrading is next to be installed before completion of internal works and then there will be some external landscaping works to be done.
Works have just commenced on extending the staff room. Some inconvenience in movement around the College will be experienced and staff will be temporarily relocated, mostly to their offices during this time.
College Code of Conduct
The College code of conduct applies to students, staff and parents and provides some guidelines on how we should cooperate as a community. It has been disappointing to have to address some poor behaviour of parents in relation to their interactions with staff who are trying to complete their duties. All adults should be modelling respectful interactions as our children do watch and learn from this.
Naming of a New School in Craigieburn
A new government school opening in 2020 has the proposed name of Aitken Hill Secondary College. We have placed an objection to the name believing it will create significant confusion. Although the consultation phase has closed, parents may wish to write to the following people.
