OUR FAITH

PRAYER

Sustaining God, caretaker of life, you are always present. You live in us.

Watch over our school community during the break, and keep us safe in your watchful gaze.

Bless our school community as we celebrate our holidays.

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

We pray ...

We pray for... all of our St Nicholas School community members, for all Year 12 students, in particular, the McCarthy Catholic College students as they complete their final days of schooling, the Howard family (Brody 4M) on the passing of their grandfather and for the Lane family (Samuel 1T) on the safe arrival of their baby girl.

LITURGY NEWS

Last Friday Bishop Michael Kennedy visited our school. He spoke with all grades and had the opportunity to meet with Year 6 and the candidates for Confirmation. Bishop Kennedy and Fr Chirs very much enjoyed their time with us.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION (Year 6)

The Sacrament of Confirmation

Congratulations to the children who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation last weekend. This was the most wonderful occasion for the students and their families despite the limited number of people able to gather inside the Church. The children were appropriately dressed and we thank our parents for their support. A very big thank you and special mention must go to Bishop Michael Kennedy and Fr Chris for the manner in which they made each Mass so memorable and special for our children and their families. Thank you also to the Parish choir for supporting our children and for the many members of our Parish and school who have been praying for our children. Mrs Daley, Mrs Hofman and Mr Unwin also need to be thanked for ensuring that the children were well prepared for this important occasion. We pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to be their guiding light as they seek to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit in everyday life.

OCTOBER IS MISSION MONTH

Advanced Notice

This year’s Catholic Mission theme is 'For the joy of the Lord is your strength'. Catholic Mission is asking that we join others throughout Australia to learn more about issues of mission and justice. To support Catholic Mission Month our school will be having an awareness-raising day on Friday 16th October (Term 4 Week 1) where the students will be allowed to wear non-uniformed socks to school for the day. Being mindful of the current financial climate, this day is not about raising money but rather raising awareness and standing in solidarity, particularly with the people of Cambodia. More information about Catholic Mission can be found at www.catholicmission.org.au
