Week 7 & 8 of Remote and Flexible Learning

Assessment and Data

Teachers will be using this time to collect evidence of learning from students, in order to finalise PLSP goals. It is important to upload student work and participation videos to SeeSaw or the Google drive, and facilitate time for students to meet online as part of the regular classroom routine. Some students have received learning packs due to limited internet activity and there is an opportunity to send work back to school as well, through the learning pack delivery system. If you are one of the families that are in this category, please email your classroom teacher, or ring the school to organise to return student assessments before the end of week 9.

Student Learning

Enjoy the sunshine
Enjoy the sunshine

At the end of each Literacy session, each Numeracy session, and at the end of the learning day, a structured movement break is important for our children. Now that the weather is improving and the sun has finally appeared, some of those all important movement breaks can happen outdoors. The changing environment as we move into spring can create opportunities to develop oral language and vocabulary regarding the seasons and the weather - two very important scientific phenomenon. Take the time to develop your child's curiosity and engage with the environment around them. Help them name their physical surrounds or the physical changes they are observing as the days pass. These conversations you have are important for your child to support their reading now, and down the track, even if your child is non verbal. The more vocabulary a student has been exposed to, the more potential knowledge they bring to each new text they encounter.
