ABCN Goals Mentoring

Final Session

ABCN GOALS MENTORING FINAL SESSION

On Wednesday, 26th October, we went to Ernst & Young in Melbourne’s CBD to celebrate the final GOALS session with participating students and their mentors.

ABCN's Goals Mentoring Program helps students increase their aspirations, develop critical competencies, and form connections with mentors in the workplace and the company. Mentors also benefit from coaching to improve their skills, inspire their creativity, and deepen their understanding of different generations and cultures. Communication, teamwork, personal growth and self-confidence are common elements of ABCN’s coaching programs.

We travelled by train and when we arrived at Ernst Young, there were people at the front of the building waiting for us. We were taken inside and shown around the offices, which we were in awe of. They were very beautiful and new to all of us, it showed us a different point of view of an adult work life. Because we were early we were able to enjoy the fabulous view. We met the program facilitator, Iris who was great to work with.

We finally met our mentors in person, as up until this point, we had Zoom meetings with them. One of the main activities was to be interviewed by the mentors. They gave us amazing advice. The best piece of advice was we should always plan for scenario A, B and C in life, meaning we should set goals and keep our options open. Many of us overcame our fear of public speaking and shared our overall experience with the group.

We couldn’t be happier that we were given this opportunity to learn and take all this great advice from everybody. We highly recommend this program to future students.
