Principal's Report

Staff Lunch Thank you

A huge thank you to all the parents who contributed to our staff lunch last week; it was greatly appreciated.  While it truly does take a village to grow the child, our staff here at Windsor are such a crucial element of this.  Teachers, education support staff and administration – the work that is done individually and collectively by our staff is key to our success.  The staff are definitely feeling the effects of the three COVID impacted years – there is a definite fatigue (like the entire the community), continual health caution and even the change of mindset that COVID and lockdowns have left us with.  In my conversations with friends and with my Windsor colleagues there is definite a sense of change.  A number of staff are thinking about what next year holds for them in relation to family, location/lifestyle and professional growth.  In my role as Principal, I support the staff equally as people and as professionals and respect the mindsets that are circulating in this post pandemic world, whether the mindset is focused on recovery, exploration or growth.  In doing this I see opportunity for staff to take on roles that will improve Windsor but also elements that can leave Windsor vulnerable.  A big part of my job as Principal is balancing these elements for the benefit of all.

Welcome to Our New International Families

I would like to acknowledge that our recent increase in enrolments has been largely due to the re-opening of international borders.  Since mid-year we have had families join us from Nepal, Sweden, Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia and India.  We also have a family with a 2023 Prep student who have just arrived from Singapore.  We really discovered how important our international families were to us during COVID when many chose/were forced to return home and it is fantastic to see this part of our Windsor community returning.  I ask our ‘stable base’ parent group to make our new arrivals welcome and ensure they experience the Windsor Way that is such a predominant part of our identity.

Attendance – Lateness – Drop Off Times

As we get closer to the end of the year, it can be tempting to give the students a day off or arrive late more often than we may normally.  We ask parents and carers to maintain punctual routines for the kids until the holidays.  We can sometimes forget how important routines are for the students, something as simple as arriving late and missing the morning greeting and lesson introduction can be so unsettling for the kids.  Changing routines prior to the break can make the lead up to the break more challenging than relaxing.

Please note that our supervision of the yard does not begin until 8.45am and any student arriving before this time needs to have parental supervision or be booked into the Before School Care program.

2022 School Fees

A final reminder to any families who have not paid their Parent Payments for 2022, it is not too late to pay these and as our operating budget is running in deficit, it will be greatly appreciated.
