INCREASE IN COVID-19 INFECTION NUMBERS

With the incidence of COVID-19 infections rising significantly throughout Victoria, the following reminders are important for Junior School families.

  • Stay home when unwell – Students and staff who are unwell should not attend school or early childhood education centres.  This prevents the spread of infection to others.
  • Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) - If unwell, undertake a RAT and if positive, stay home for at least five days from the onset of symptoms and notify the Health Department.
  • Social distancing – with COVID-19 spread primarily through respiratory droplets and aerosols, avoiding close contact and staying more than 1.5 metres apart from other people will help reduce the spread of infection.
  • Personal Hygiene – practise good personal hygiene, including covering nose and mouth when sneezing, disposing of tissues after use, coughing into one’s elbow and thoroughly washing hands with soap and water (or hand sanitiser containing >70% alcohol).

ST MARYS CHRISTMAS PARADE

After a two-year hiatus, the St Mary's Christmas Parade will be held on Friday 2 December at 6.00pm. The Junior School will join many other local schools, kindergartens and organisations in marching down Gray Street and making our way to the Hamilton P.A.C. Students in Piccino to Year Two are invited to attend.

With ‘Christmas’ as the theme, students will wear their Nativity costumes.  Parents are invited to wear a touch of Christmas and join the students and staff for the event.

2023 JUNIOR SCHOOL CAPTAINCY INTERVIEWS

On Tuesday, Junior School Deputy, Mrs Bernadette Milich, former Assistant Principal Operations, Mr Neil MacLean and I interviewed 12 Year Five students who had applied to be 2023 Junior School Captains.

The students submitted an application letter and were invited to interview, where they were asked questions about their talents and aspirations.  It was an enjoyable and informative morning.  The 2023 Junior School Captains will be announced at Speech Day on Friday 9 December.  Thank you to all the Year Five students who applied - well done!
