Designers during Guided Play in Foundation

The Foundation students have been busy exploring, playing, planning and designing during Guided Play sessions this term. They are experts at understanding the design cycle and have been working hard on various projects across three main areas; wood work, box construction and textile design.

It has been fantastic to have the help of so many of our Foundation parents and guardians during the Guided Play sessions this month, offering their time and skill set to the children which has been invaluable!

With the Design Unit coming to a close the Foundation students are looking forward to sharing their designs with each other soon. There are wooden cubbies being built for the kids to play in on the STELA decking as well as a fashion parade planned for the Foundies to show off the toys, clothes and bags they have made over the past few weeks.

Firefighter visit

Firefighters visit the Foundation and Junior students to share their Fire safe message.

The Foundation and Junior students were so excited last Wednesday when the firefighters from our local Brunswick Fire station came to visit for the final education session. They began the with a quick presentation about fire safety at home and how to contact emergency services. It was amazing to see the children able to recall what to do if caught in an emergency situation. After this came the most exciting part - getting to hold the fire hose and spray out lots of water. Many children even got to have a chance to hop into the fire truck and see upclose all the gadgets and buttons.

The children were all so patient waiting to have their turn and you can imagine everyone was quite a bit soaked by the time the firefighters left.
