Bump Up Day – Friday 4th November
Each student in the Junior School (Prep to Year 5) will 'bump up' to theer next year group for the morning until lunch time and all new students joining us in 2023, will also attend. No changes to normal routine, this will occur as part of the school day. Please wear school uniform. The students will participate with the teachers who currently teach these year groups in their current classes. The teachers and classes for 2023 have not been determined yet.
Marshal Ballantyne-Jones - Professional Speaker
Dr Marshall Ballantine-Jones an expert in the field and a highly sought-after presenter will be speaking to parents and students whilst visiting Calrossy. He will be presenting on '8 things every parent should know about social media'. We believe it is critical for as many parents to attend as possible. These events are open to anyone from the community who is keen to understand these issues and how they can support their young people as they navigate these complex matters. We cannot implore our parents enough of the need to be well educated on this topic so that we can support our students in the best way possible. These sessions are open to parents of children across all ages, you do not have to wait until you have a teenager, to explore these topics: forewarned is forearmed. Everyone is welcome. The sessions will be: Monday 14th November 5pm (BSC Hall) AND Tuesday 15th November 7pm (BSC Hall) More information and registrations here: https://calrossy.nsw.edu.au/8-things-every-parent-should-know-about-social-media Year 5 and 6 students will be involved in sessions on Tuesday 15th November during the school day.
Classes and Teachers for 2023
During the remainder of this term, we will be preparing the classes for 2023 and I will be finalising the staffing. Please do not submit requests to staff for which teacher or class that you would like your child in. When we prepare classes, we consider each individual child in the class and have their best interest at heart. Student needs, friendships, the teacher, academics, behavioural needs, boys to girls ratio, and the combination of red and blue students from the current year. This is a carefully considered process and the final decisions rest with the Head of Junior School. I implore you to trust the school and allow us to carry out this important process. The school community will be notified when these decisions have been finalised.

Junior School Performing Arts Evening
Calrossy Junior School students take a bow! Last weeks Performing Arts concert was spectacular with our students taking to the stage to perform vocal ensembles, solo's, dance routines and drama. Every student took part in the concert from our littlest preppies through to Year 6 reinforcing how amazing our Music program is at Calrossy. Special thanks to Mrs Turner and our music teachers plus Mr Hardes, Mrs Godden and Lachlan Barry for accompanying our students. Well done everyone. There will be a mega photo gallery on The HUB.

Congratulations to our amazing maths masterminds in Year 5 and Year 6 Students who participated in the Australasian Problem Solving Maths Olympiad Competition this year. This year more than 70,000 students participated.
Among our amazing results… in Year 6, Joshua Suter, scored in the top 10% of all competitors and received the trophy or the highest individual score at Calrossy. Lizzy Pickens, Cameron North and Oliver Scott scored in the top 25% of all competitors.
Across just our Year 5 students; Aleksey Chambers came third, Ty Ackerman and Oliver Pearson were equal second and Felicity MacKenzie received the highest individual score.
This is an annual contest that has been operating since 1987. Every year schools from all over Australia, New Zealand and other neighbouring countries take part. Approximately 70,000 students participated in 2022. The Olympiads consist of five separate contests held approximately one month apart between March and September and each contest has 5 problem-solving challenges to complete. A huge congratulations to all the students and staff involved, we are so proud of the great participation of Calrossy students in these events.
