Calrossy Junior School

This week, we look at our school value of Inclusiveness2 My friends, if you have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, you won't treat some people better than others. James 2:1-4.

We are all created perfectly in God’s image, and He loves us just the way we are. We ought to be loving, kind, caring and inclusive of all. Being isolated or excluded really hurts and we all feel it inside, irrespective of whether the exclusion is intentional or accidental. Belonging is a strong need of all humans. It is through connection with others that we thrive and flourish.

We find that around age 10 (Year 3 and 4), is when students can really start to talk about inclusion and diversity in more depth. Children generally state obvious facts and can be quite direct and make a situation uncomfortable. This makes it obvious that children aren’t aware how to talk about differences. But children can’t fix a problem they’re not aware of. Take the opportunity to talk the children about what they’re saying and ask the question, ‘What makes you say that?’ rather than quickly shushing them. Meet your child where they are at by asking questions. Seize an opportunity for growth and connection.

Above all remember that we are called to love. Love one another, as I have loved you. John 13:34

eCalrossy

It is with great excitement that we are commencing eCalrossy in the Junior School in 2023. eCalrossy is our Distance Education programme, which runs entirely online with its own classroom teacher. We will commence eCalrossy in the Junior School with a Stage 3 class (Year 5 and 6) and are pleased with the interest in the class already. eCalrossy runs an online programme for two thirds of the school day and a residential school over three weeks of the holidays. Please share this news with your more remote friends or anyone wishing to access a Calrossy education via eCalrossy in Stage 3.

Have a wonderful week.
