Student Wellbeing
Student Wellbeing is something that has always been very important to me. It is a large umbrella that covers so many different aspects of mental health and safety.
There have been a lot of events over the course of this year, particularly Term 4 such as:
- Year 4/5 Girls - Girlosophy (assertive communication and problem solving; conflict resolution & decision making; coping strategies; frenemies, enemies and friends; empathy & kindness; positive self talk, self esteem and self efficacy)
- Donation of picture story books to Balwyn East Kinder as part of R U OK Day?
- Year 3/4 Camp to Alexandra Adventure Resort
- Year 5/6 Camp to Canberra
- Year Prep-Year 2 Camp Experience to Werribee Zoo
- Year 5/6 student and parental educational sessions on cyber safety and puberty
- Year 5/6 Buddy Program for our Preps
- Student Representative Council
- Wellbeing Groups
Our Wellbeing Groups are fun activities the students participate in for an hour on a Friday. Across the school, the children are placed into multi-age groups where one of our teachers leads a fun activity. This is also an opportunity for our students to work with, socialise and make friends with other students across the school.
Our most recent rotation Mr. Cirillo run trivia; Mrs. Maher and Ms. Durrant did cooking where they made pasta Bolognese; Signora Michieli and Miss. Durrant ran a range of sporting activities; Geraldine organised a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activity and I did an art activity where the kids completed a themed draw along.
We have had a great year with the children and I am excited to bring even more to the Student Wellbeing space next year.
Kind regards
Mr Tom Brophy
