It was wonderful to welcome so many families to our Year 11 Presentation Assembly on Wednesday. The Assembly marked the completion of Year 11 for our Wyndham students and celebrated the achievements of students and staff. The Nirimba Learning Community Awards are a feature of this Assembly and we took great pleasure in recognizing the following staff:
Jessica Honda - Excellent contribution by a temporary staff member
Lyn Mansfield - Excellent contribution by SASS staff
Jennie Cooper - Excellence in Teaching
Suzanne Szecsodi - Excellence in Teaching
What a thrill it was to experience the wonder of School Spectacular again this year! It really is the pinnacle of showcasing students enrolled in public schools across NSW. We were able to take a large group of students to the matinee this year and we eagerly waited to see Jacqueline Attard as a featured artist and Aaliyah-Jane Thomas in the Aboriginal Dance Group. They were both brilliant and made us all very proud.
Staff will return to school on Friday 27 January 2023. Monday 30 January 2023 is also a scheduled staff development day. Year 11 will return on Tuesday 31 January 2023, and Year 12 return on Wednesday 1 February 2023.
As is customary at this time of year, we farewell a number of our valued staff.
Brian Ewin has done a stellar job as Deputy Principal at Wyndham. Brian will be taking leave before transitioning into retirement.
Sue Beamer has supported countless numbers of students in her capacity as Head Teacher Wellbeing and Careers Adviser at Wyndham and will also take leave before retirement.
Kirtana Hariharan is a brilliant young mathematics teacher, who has been successful in her application to join the Lindfield Learning Village.
Brendan Hourigan is an outstanding teacher, who has secured a position at Brisbane Waters Secondary College, which is much closer to his home.
We also thank and farewell some of our valued temporary staff including Suzanne Szecsodi and Daniel Moss, who have secured employment in other schools.
We are currently working with staffing to fill a number of vacancies and are hoping to have these positions filled by the commencement of the school year.
I would like to thank the entire Wyndham community for making me so welcome over the past 3 terms. It really is a pleasure to work in such a wonderful school, surrounded by incredible students and colleagues.
I wish everyone all the very best for the festive season, please be careful on the roads if you are travelling.
